Tarpan is a sacred Vedic ritual of offering water mixed with black sesame, barley, and kusha grass to ancestors (Pitras), gods, and sages. The word Tarpan comes from the Sanskrit root βTrupβ which means to satisfy or to gratify.
By performing Pitru Tarpan, we express gratitude towards our ancestors, seek their blessings, and ensure peace for their souls.
